The Mansion House of Yang Hucheng

現(xiàn)在我們看到的就是楊虎城紀(jì)念館了，大家跟我進(jìn)去吧。

楊虎城紀(jì)念館位于北大街青年路中段，1936年12月12日楊虎城和張學(xué)良將軍聯(lián)合發(fā)動(dòng)“兵諫”，同年12月17日，周恩來(lái)和楊虎城談判和平解決“西安事變”。1937年楊虎城被迫辭去職務(wù)，離軍出國(guó)，赴歐美考察。“七七”事變發(fā)生后，他中止考察，回國(guó)請(qǐng)求參加抗日，被蔣介石拒絕，同年11月，被蔣介石扣留，長(zhǎng)期監(jiān)禁。1949年9月重慶解放前夕，慘遭殺害。紀(jì)念館庭園植有松柏花木，安靜幽雅。

The Memorial Hall of Yang Hucheng in Qingnian Road is where General Zhang Xue－liang and Yang Hucheng met for the protest against Chiang Kaishek prior to the Xi'an Incident on December 12 1936.It was also here on December 17 1936that Zhou Enlai talked with him about a peaceful settlement of the Xi'an Incident.Yang Hucheng made a great contri bution to the peaceful settlement of the Xi'an Inci dent.After that，he was compelled to resign and left for Europe and America for inspecting.After the July 7th Incident in 1937，he suspended his inspec tion and returned to China to plead to join the War of Resistance Against Japan，but he was rejected by Chiang Kaishek.In November 1937，he was de tained by Chiang Kaishek and put in jail for a long time.Before the eve of Chongqing liberation，he was murdered in cold blood.In the hall，there are the pines，flowers and trees.It is a quiet and ex quisite house.

A Flat Tire

一位游客駕車(chē)沿著鄉(xiāng)間公路行駛時(shí)，覺(jué)得輪胎破了。于是他把車(chē)停在一個(gè)兼營(yíng)雜貨的加油站前，對(duì)店主說(shuō)：“我的車(chē)胎恐怕是破了，能不能請(qǐng)你幫忙看一看？”

店主想了一會(huì)說(shuō)：“光看看恐怕不行吧！”

While driving along a country road，a tourist thought he had a flat tire.Stopping at a combination general store and gas station，he said to the proprietor，“I'm afraid my tire may be going flat and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to look at it.”

After a moment of contemplation the proprietor said，“Afraid there's nothing I can do by looking at it.”
