Forest Drinking Water
A deer stops by a wonderful little creek flowing through the forest to take a sip of fresh water.Suddenly he stops.
“I recall having a drinking water here years ago but I was struck with terrible diarrhea afterwards.”
I recall having a drink water here
Years ago,nothing was growing here
A squirrel was jumping around in the trees above and heard the deer’s comment and said:“You’re right! Years ago, nothing grew here and everyone left because they got sick from the bad water.”
“Why didn’t people just dig a well and pump up water?”
“They may have tried, but it never worked.Pumps need parts and energy and they break down.So the people suffered a lot from not enough water as well as bad water.”
“And if their children were sick and dying, why didn’t they get water from the big city?” asked the deer.
Why didn’t people just dig a well and pump up water?
People went to the city
“Oh,that was too expensive.Instead of sending the water here, people went to the city.No one stayed behind.”
“But how can it be so healthy and crystalline now?”
“I was here when it all started to become healthy again. Some good people began to plant trees. And then some incredible things began to happen; more plants and trees which had never been here before began to grow.”
“That’s not possible! All are on their own? What about the bacteria that caused the digestion problems? Are they gone?” asked the deer.
Some good people began to plant trees
The bad ones are outnumbered
“The ones that caused stomachaches and made you sick are still here, but now, thanks to the forest, there are millions of other bacteria which have colonized the soil. The bad ones are outnumbered.”
“So,you are sure I am not going to have an‘a(chǎn)ccident’ the moment I drink here?”
“Absolutely not! I have been living here for five years and never had a problem. That thanks to all these mushrooms that stick to the roots of the trees and plants.”
“You must be making a mistake.Mushrooms do not grow on roots. They grow on wood, straw, and coffee.”
Thanks to all these mushrooms that stick to the roots
helping them to grow healthy and strong
“Ah,you see there are other varieties that exist to help trees digest the food they take from the ground, helping them to grow healthy and strong. These mushrooms act like the saliva in your mouth,” explained the squirrel.
“Fascinating! Trees have saliva? And do they spit like animals and naughty children?”
“Now,let’s get serious here,” said the squirrel.“The important thing is that thanks to the reforestation,we now have natural pure water in abundance. In fact, there is so much water, that the children can play in it and listen to the beautiful song birds that have come back to live in the forest.”
...AND IT HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN! ...
