這部分我們來介紹兩個party相關的習慣用語：

第一個習慣用語是：life of the party。Life意思是生命，它也可以解釋為“活力”或者“精華”。life of the party是指“在聚會中活躍氣氛的中心人物”，如：

Jenny is very polular in parties because she is always the life of the party．珍妮在派對上很受歡迎，因為她總能夠活躍氣氛。

第二個習慣用語：party pooper。

pooper來自poop，poop這個詞有一種解釋是筋疲力盡，如poop out意思是“累得喘不過氣來”。那么party pooper是聚會上什么樣的人呢？我們通過一個例子來體會吧：

這句口語的完整表達是Are you guys ready for some fun?省略了be動詞。be ready for表示“為……做準備，準備好做……”。ready作為形容詞時表示“準備好的，可以使用的”。除了be ready for以外，還有一個常用的短語是get ready for，來看幾個例子：

We'll get ready for the final exam．我們要為這場期末考試做準備。

你最不想做的事……

the last thing表示“最不想做的事，最不可能做的事”?？谡Z中經(jīng)常會說“我最沒想到的就是……”就可以使用這個句型：主詞＋be動詞＋the last＋名詞＋to-不定詞／從句，意為“絕不可能是……；最不想是……”。

1．He is the last person I want to marry．他是我最不想嫁的人。

2．This is the last place where I expected to meet you．我絕沒想到會在這里遇見你。

說到這里，不得不說另一句習語：the last straw表示使人無法忍受的最后一擊，導火線。它來源于一句諺語It's the last straw that breaks the camel's back．最后一根稻草壓死一只駱駝，意指“極限已到，忍無可忍”。如：She told everybody my secret. That's the last straw．秘密告訴了所有人。真讓人忍無可忍。
