（三）研究線索與結論的創(chuàng)新

本研究暗含兩條研究線索：一是協(xié)會作為一個民間教育協(xié)會的組織性質(zhì)；二是協(xié)會的組織目的即維護美國高校教師的權益和推進美國高等教育系統(tǒng)的福祉。全書圍繞這兩條線索，對美國大學教授協(xié)會展開了全面深入的分析與探討，并在依據(jù)我國現(xiàn)實的基礎上，提煉了影響民間教育組織生存與發(fā)展的因素，并對我國高校教師權益維護事業(yè)和高等教育系統(tǒng)的前進與發(fā)展展開了思考，提出了若干發(fā)展意見。

當然，本書也存在一些有待改進的地方。如受到文獻資料與研究篇幅等的限制，本文對協(xié)會的影響研究主要集中在協(xié)會對美國高校教師和美國高等教育系統(tǒng)的主要影響之上，而協(xié)會的其他作用與影響，以及協(xié)會成員、高校教師、高校、學生、州政府和聯(lián)邦政府、法院等對協(xié)會的影響沒有展開研究，協(xié)會與校長、其他協(xié)會組織等的關系等也沒有展開深入探索。另外，受制于篇幅、時間以及個人能力等，論文對某些問題的研究仍欠深入與細致，尚需改進。這些不足和有待改進的地方也正是作者日后研究的方向與動力所在。
